How it all started

MSoft eSolutions Ltd was formed in 1999 in a small office just by Tranmere Rovers Football Club on the Wirral, UK.

The company was founded by Matt McAlister who had a vision shared by many in the industry that the World Wide Web was going to change the world and quickly. That was 25 years ago and there is not one second the world does not rely on the power of the Web to unite people, services and devices. Its worth remembering back then in 1999 that Facebook and Twitter did not exist and the iPhone was not launched for another 8 years!

The company began selling intelligent websites to many different customers from Bookshops (sadly not Amazon!) to Car Dealerships to Estate Agents. It managed to cement itself as one of the first e-commerce software companies but it needed a tag line to separate itself from its competition.

The tag name “Taking the Web Further….” was born and with it an image was adopted again to differentiate us from the myriad of spider web imagery; the image we chose was the “Blue Footed Boobie” from the Galapagos Islands.

Our Story

The differentiation worked.

The company rapidly gained a number of high profile customers wanting to use its innovative e-commerce and e-procurement systems. These included Henkel-Ecolab, Glasgow City Council and even Ford Motorsport.

These customers could see the unique opportunities that the Web could offer using the MSoft software solutions.

The solution the company developed for Henkel-Ecolab and Glasgow City council evolved over time into the award winning solution called MICES (MSoft Integrated Community Equipment System). This solution dominated the Community Equipment Service market for over 15 years eventually acquiring many of its competitors. This system helped its local government customers manage, track and maintain specialist equipment for the elderly which in turn allowed the elderly end customer to remain in the homes for longer.

The MICES solution led onto its first NHS Healthcare opportunity with Trafford General Hospital with Bloodhound.

Trafford General Hospital, who incidentally were the first NHS Hospital in the UK, asked MSoft to write an Electronic Blood Tracking System to manage their vein to vein Blood transfusion requirements set out by Blood Safety and Quality Regulations, the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) Safer Practice Notices and SHOT recommendations.

MSoft developed Bloodhound which later became known as Blood360. Blood360 then went on to win industry awards and dominate the UK Electronic Blood Tracking Market. Its novel Cloud computing and mobile device agnostic approach to the solution gained a number of supporters within the Blood Tracking market.

MSoft would later expand into Australia with its Cloud based Blood360 computing platform.

What was next after Blood360?

Sample360 came next. This initially complimented Blood360 clients managing the Blood Sample Taking part of the Electronic Blood Tracking solution Blood360. Sample360 then evolved into its own product managing not only Blood samples but Urine, Stool, Pregnancy Tests and even COVID samples to name a few.

Sample360’s customers have included Nuffield Healthcare, Coca-Cola (via a 3rd party), Siemens Healthineers in Saudi Arabia, African Society for Laboratory Medicine in Togo and Ghana and closer to home, Liverpool Heart and Chest NHS Trust.

Finally; MSoft evolved its incredibly flexible Cloud platform transforming the powerful Blood360 product into Milk360. This is because both products manage a human produced product into another human.

This product was developed to meet the demand of HIMSS Level 6 accreditation for Liverpool Women’s NHS Hospital. Milk360 manages the safe collection of milk from the mothers breast, then the cold chain management of that milk through to the infant in the incubator.
