Milk360 Express and Labels

Milk360 manages the booking in of the Mother and her infants and part of that booking in process is the generation of unique labels to uniquely identify her milk for her babies. This fits in with the Milk360 mantra of “Right Milk for the Right Infant”. By uniquely identifying the milk the system can manage expiry dates and stock levels.

Positive Patient ID

Positive Patient ID is performed at the booking in stage of Milk360 and unique barcodes are generated for the mother to label their Milk containers with.

Right Milk, Right Infant

Each infant baby milk container is uniquely labelled with barcodes to allow the units to then be entered into the fridge or freezer using the Milk360 Kiosk.

Access

Milk360 Kiosk

A key part of the Milk360 System is secure access to Milk Products. These Products include both expressed milk and donor milk. Each of these milk Products may require storage in different containers such as multiple Fridges or Freezers. The Kiosk Provides this access control via fingerprints and other identity checking methods.

Secure Any Container

The Kiosk can lock virtually any container for Milk Products – this includes Fridges and Freezers.

Fingerprint Access

By Default the Kiosk controls access to Milk Products via the use of fingerprints. It can also use Barcoded cards, PIN entry and ActiveDirectory.

Collection

Milk360 Milk Collection

Once the user credentials are checked by Milk360 they can then proceed with a process called Milk Out. This process involves the User confirming the Patients or Mothers Identity using a collection barcode. Once confirmed the User may proceed with the removal of the Milk Product. The Milk Fridge will be unlocked and once the Milk Product is in hand the User will be prompted to scan the Milk Product to confirm it is the “Right Milk for the Right Infant”.

Positive Patient ID

Positive Patient ID is performed at the Kiosk using barcoded collection cards or using a mobile device screen with a barcode.

Right Milk, Right Infant

Once Positive Patient ID has been performed the Kiosk makes sure the User collects the correct Milk Product for the correct Infant.

Bedside

Milk360 Bedside

Milk360 Bedside App manages the entire Expressed Breast Milk (EBM) Process on the Ward. It begins with the booking in and printing of labels for the mother to produce EBM, safe storage of the milk and then finally a feed. Throughout the processes Positive Patient ID is enforced and User Credentials are recorded for Audit purposes and access purposes.

User Audit

The Bedside App makes sure only qualified members of staff can access it and ever action is logged for Audit.

Cotside Positive Patient ID

All cotside activities require that the Infant is correctly identified via a barcode on the wristband or an RFID scan.

Feed

Milk360 Feeding

Milk360 Bedside App manages the entire Feeding Process. It begins with a warming or defrosting process. If a decanting is required then the App will facilitate this process and make sure the left over milk is labelled and placed back into the Fridge. Before feeding can begin the User must follow the onscreen feeding process including scanning the Milk Product and Patient ID. If all checks pass then the feeding may begin. The App will also record any additives added to the milk and will record the end of the feeding process too.

Before the feed can begin both the Milk Product and the Patient are scanned to make sure the feed can go ahead.

What is Milk360 Fridge Control?

“In its simplest form it allows the Maternity Department to store Milk Units in a fridge closer to where it is needed securely. The specialist Milk360 Kiosks control access to both Fridges and Freezers and even allows Mothers to access the fridge to deposit expressed milk.”

Milk360 Access Control Kiosks allow Clinicians to deposit the expressed Milk into the Freezer or Fridge. During the deposit process the Kiosk will print off unique barcoded labels with both the expressed date and expiry date.

The Kiosk also provides secure access for health professionals to remove milk for the infant when feeding is due. The Kiosk controls access to both Freezer and Fridge and will indicate to the health professional the current stock for that infant. If no milk is available then donor milk is then made available.

The Kiosk makes sure the shortest dated milk is taken first. The Kiosk also manages the decanting process and will issue new labels for the decanted containers keeping the historical milk express information.
